The brunch had just occurred and a bunch of us were sitting in the Admiralty room, which was an adhoc vip/staff area. We were wrecked. We couldn’t believe it was over. We were slumped over the tables. We felt like something important had left us. We were in a sort of mourning. Bonnie, the hotel rep, came back and said, “You have to see this. You have to see what these guys have done.” So we all got up and marched pied piper style out to the hallway. I cried a lot that weekend but never so much more than when I saw the wall of love our guests had left for us. Messages like “This is My Hogwarts.” Simple thank yous. Stories that stretched over five postits. Notes about how they finally felt like they “had a home.” Each one more inspirational than the next. I think even LeakyScot teared up. You guys seriously found a way to top off the whole experience for us, in a way that meant something to every staffer. I am not exaggerating when I say that was one of the best moments of my life.
